New Update

The TravelMate 600 is the most attractive-looking notebook in

the shootout. One unique feature in this notebook is its CD-RW drive instead of

a CD-ROM drive. So users can also burn data on CDs. It didn’t ship with a

floppy drive. However, an optional USB floppy drive is available for the

notebook. But you’ll need to pay for it.

Another good feature in this notebook is its sound system.

The jacks for speakers, line-in, and Mic are conveniently located on its

front-panel. The power button is also located in the front.

The notebook’s hard drive and RAM are easily accessible by

a user, which makes it easy for future upgrades. Performance wise this notebook

did pretty well. It gave a battery backup time of 3:36 hours, which is very

good, although its charging time of 3:40 hours, was a little disappointing. In

Business Winstone 99 it scored 22.1, which is a good enough.

The TravelMate comes with a restore CD and a system driver

CD. It also comes bundled with a host of software, which include IBM ViaVoice

speech recognition software, Adaptec Easy CD Creator and Direct CD, Intel

Machine software restores the notebook to a configuration before the application

was installed.

can wish for. It lost points on warranty. It offers one-year warranty for the

notebook and only three-months for the battery.
