New Update

The iPhone 5S follows the same design principle as the iPhone 5, which has been since been discontinued in the market. The form factor is pretty much the same-4 inch, 1136x640 pixels, Corning Glass display and 112 grams in weight.

So, what's different? It is Apple's first ever 64-bit architecture based A7 chipset which gets clubbed with an M7 co-processor along with 1 GB RAM, which gets the job done with utmost ease. The 5S gets an 8 MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and at the front you have 1.2 MP camera for Face Time and some quick selfies. The phone is loaded with a 1560 mAh battery which is expected to last for more than 10 hours of talk time.

The classy apple design

As mentioned above, there is nothing new about the look and feel of iPhone 5S except the fact that now you have three color options; gold, silver-white and space grey to choose from. On the home button the phone has premium metallic finish on the sides as it doubles up as a fingerprint scanner. You can save up to five fingers for ID which can be used to unlock the phone in a jiffy, buy items on iTunes and going further we may see more applications becoming compatible with the technology. The dual colored body of 5S looks elegant and epitomizes Apple's philosophy.

Performance

The 4 inch 5S sports the same 1136x640 pixels display and runs on iOS 7.0.4 version (when upgraded). The process of registering finger IDs does take some time but once they get accepted the whole experience of using the 5S becomes a lot more fluid. Along with the finger ID, one has the option of setting up the pass-code feature as well. The display is of top quality and comes close to the output delivered by full HD displays. The gaming performance on the 5S is top notch and there is nothing much to complain about.

The 8 MP camera gets a dual-LED flash and in comparison to the 5 and 5C, its camera delivers images of better quality, colours look more vivid with crisp details during daylight. In terms of low-light shooting, the 5S produces detailed images but one cannot deny that the noise levels are high as well which certainly evens up things for the 5S.

The audio quality of the speakers is excellent and worth using anytime you're in a crowded place but the Apple earpods are neither comfortable, nor do they cancel noise effectively. The 5S scored 10326 on 3D Ice Storm Extreme which is almost three times the scores of iPhone 5C which got 3288 and the iPhone 5 which got 3301. The A7 chipset has shown its overall impact on the performance of 5S and with future support for the chipset on its way, it looks promising. During our battery tests, the 5S lasted us little more than 17 hours with 2 hours on 3G, 3 to 4 hours on Wi-Fi, 1 hour of gaming, 2 hours calling and 1 hour of watching movies.
