Apple Removes 1474 Applications From its Store at Government's Request

Apple recently deleted a large number of apps from its App Store in response to demands from governments in various nations.

The platform's apps have undergone an extensive assessment as a result of the company's dedication to privacy, security, and content standards.

Apple's 2022 Application Store Transparency Report reveals insight into the actions taken to battle extortion and guarantees the prosperity of designers and clients inside 175 nations and locales.

A total of 1474 apps were removed from the App Store as a result of government requests, out of the many that were affected. With an astonishing number of 1435, China had the most removed applications.

India followed with a solicitation to eliminate 14 applications, while the public authority of Pakistan mentioned the evacuation of 10 applications. It is essential to keep in mind that the removals are restricted to the storefronts under the requesting entity's jurisdiction, allowing the apps to remain accessible in all other locations.

Previous closures

All through 2022, Apple got a sum of 18,412 requests from different organizations around the world, looking for the evacuation of explicit applications. With 5,484 appeals, China topped the list, followed by India with 709 appeals for app removals. Apple restored 24 Indian apps in response to these appeals.

The App Store had 1,783,232 applications available as of 2022. During the same time, Apple carefully reviewed 6,101,913 app submissions.

As a result, 1,679,694 apps were rejected because they broke App Store policies. However, after making the necessary adjustments, 253,466 of the applications that were rejected were eventually approved. Altogether, the number of applications eliminated from the Application Store in 2022 came to 186,195.
