Ezetap, Mobile POS solution provider, today announced that Big Basket, the leading provider of groceries has introduced the Ezetap Card on Delivery service, allowing customers to order groceries online and pay safely and conveniently at the time of delivery. The service had been piloted for several months and is now available to all customers across Bangalore, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

Increased penetration of the Internet and Mobile Internet, busy lifestyles, traffic hassles and most importantly access to high quality products has led to a significant increase in Internet Commerce in the past few years – not just in metros but also in smaller towns and cities in India. However, consumers are often not comfortable paying online – and prefer to pay at the time of delivery. Ezetap’s Card on Delivery service allows delivery agents to use their mobile phones as secure credit card terminals – and ensures that consumers do not have to worry about having cash/exact change at home.

Big Basket customer Suresh K recounts his experience. “As I was getting ready for the office, the Big Basket guys showed up with our order of groceries. We were low on cash and the thought of running to the nearest ATM bothered me. We [even] offered to cut a cheque. Looking at our worried faces, the delivery person pulled up the Ezetap and offered to take our card as the payment option. We were so pleasantly surprised. Within a minute, we were done with our payment!!”

“Already more than a third of our customers prefer using Card on Delivery, and this number is growing”, said Hari Menon, CEO of Big Basket. “Our Customer Experience Executives (CEE) use our own delivery application using Android Smartphones. The Ezetap service was easy to integrate into our existing application. The integrated s olution significantly reduces the operational challenges of exact change & cash reconciliation, as well as the security risks of cash handling & fraudulent notes”.

The Ezetap pocket-sized card reader turns mobile phones into secure payment terminals. Designed and manufactured in India, Ezetap is certified according to all global standards specified by the Payment Card Industry – the system is both affordable and compact and available in partnership with a number of banks.
