This book is very useful for developers and architects using component technologies such as EJB (Enterprise JavaBeans), COM+ and CCM (CORBA Components) in their day-to-day work. It gives them detailed information about component infrastructure related to these technologies. The book is divided into three parts; with the first covering everything related to server component pattern language, such as the core infrastructure elements, component implementation building blocks, deployment, container implementation and remote access to components. The first part even provides the rationale for using this kind of architecture, and examples about how each pattern is implemented in EJB, CCM and COM+. The second part covers patterns illustrated with EJB, with more detailed examples for patterns using EJB technology. Also included is the UML diagram and extensive source code. It covers everything about EJB core infrastructure elements, bean and its environment, deployment, and EJB container implementation. The third part is very interesting, because it contains a conversation between two people, discussing about how an application has been built using the component technology. One of these two people is a JAVA programmer in a large company's development staff and the other is a consultant. This part describes the implementation of a system based on component infrastructure.

The Bottom line: A good book for developers working on EJBs, CCM and COM+ technologies.
