Bharat Oman Refineries Limited's (BORL) requirement was of a common network

platform which could cater to basic data communication services that support

secure access to corporate applications like SAP, email, etc. WAN connectivity

was provided to project office at Bina over DAMA VSAT from BPCL's datacentre at

Noida where servers for SAP, email and other services were provided. Structured

cabling was carried out at Bina to provide data connectivity to access email and

SAP by BORL. BORL was in dire need of an internal Telephone Exchange for its

internal and external voice communication. Physical security was another concern

for such a large campus mandating video surveillance and monitoring of strategic

locations. To resolve this, implementation of unified communication was done

that included network solutions.

IP Telephony was implemented within the campus facilitating Intercom, STD,

ISDcommunication. Fax over IP, collaboration tools email, Internet access,

intranet in Web 2.0 platform was also implemented. Wireless connectivity was

established where cabling was not feasible, physical security with the use of IP

cameras at strategic locations. The project led to a lot of cost saving that ran

in crores and also led to marked increase in productivity of the users .
