This MFD has a copier, a flatbed scanner and print option, but it doesn't
have fax. It has a standard memory of 32 MB and print resolution of 600 dpi. It
also has USB 2.0 and the option to add network adapter. It comes with a standard
input tray of 250 pages and has a built-in duplexer unit. Apart from the OCR
software which comes with the usual MFD CD, it provides you with additional
software called 'Presto! PageManager 7.15', which helps you scan, share and
organize your photos and docs.
In the print job, this device matched the rated 20 ppm. The time required to
print the first page was 9 seconds. And, to print 10 pages with auto-duplex
option it took 60 seconds. The minimal readable font was 2 point normal which is
excellent. In the fountain fill and line art tests, the curves were smoother,
the fountain fill was good but lines had a bit of jaggedness. The time taken to
print a full page monochrome graphics was 11 seconds and the quality in this
case was also good.
In the gray scale image test the bands were clearly visible. In case of copy
this MFD matched the rated speed of 20 pages. It took 19 seconds to scan a full
page color A4 size document at 300 dpi and 37 seconds to scan at 600 dpi. The
performance was at par with other MFDs of its class.
Bottomline: Barring the missing fax feature, it's a good MFD for small
offices.
