It comes with standard MFD functionality viz, print, copy, fax and scan. So,
as compared to MF 4122, MF 4150 has the extra fax functionality. The fax comes
with SuperG3 33.6 Kbps modem and provides features such as speed dialing, code
dialing, group dialing and broadcasting. You can receive faxes in memory, which
means that you don't necessarily print all faxes, and you can also block
reception from specific senders.
This MFD comes with duplex output for printing, copying and receiving faxes.
It has a standard memory of 32 MB which is not expandable and print resolution
of 600 dpi. We used IBM ThinkPad R51 with USB 2.0 connectivity for our tests. It
achieved a print speed of 20 ppm and took 9 seconds to print the first page,
while in duplex printing it took 100 seconds for 10 pages which is a bit slower
than its MF 4122. The minimal readable font size was 2 point normal. In line art
tests, the lines were a bit jagged, but the curves were smoother. However, if
you see a full-page monographic image, the quality was good. In the gray scale
bands prints, we were able to count all band shades. While copying, this MFD
achieved the rated speed of 20 ppm with good quality.
Apart from the usual OCR software, it provides you with additional software
called Presto! PageManager 7.15 which helps you scan, share and organize your
images and docs.
Bottomline: At this price, it is a good buy.
