A good photo-quality, feature-rich printer, it can print photos directly from Canon PowerShot digital cameras and memory devices like Compact Flash, Smart Media, Memory Stick and SD Cards. An LCD panel on the printer controls direct printing and a set of controls sets print mode, image quality, media type, page layout, and prints dates on photos. Like most Canon printers, it has four separate cartridges. Other features include a USB 2.0 interface and drivers for all versions of Windows and Mac. Unfortunately, you have to purchase the USB cable separately. It supports resolutions up to 2400x1200 dpi and the new Exif 2.2 standard to print digital images accurately on photo paper and also comes with Easy Photo-Print software to select paper type, size and settings. Its performance was impressive in both graphics and text printing. The smallest readable font size printed was point 2 and the text was also clear. The printer lets you print monochrome images using black or color cartridges. It took just 15 secs in black to print a full-page monochrome graphic, but the quality was not great.

The quality with the color cartridge was good though the time increased to 52 secs. This printer is a little more expensive than another contender in this category, the HP PhotoSmart 7550. However it has a low running cost, 78 paisa per print for black and about Rs 4 per print for color. Overall, a good choice for printing photo-quality images.
