New Update

As cloud and mobile trends continue to heighten the demand for more sophisticated apps and services, Cisco is evolving its networking portfolio to provide greater network intelligence, performance and simplicity that would accelerate application and service innovation while lowering IT total cost of ownership. The new networking portfolio expands the scope of Cisco's Open Network Environment (ONE), a portfolio wide strategy that applies software programmability to ASICs, Oses, networking functions, and services across data center, WAN and LAN.

Cisco ONE comprises of 3 pillars that provide a programmable approach to both physical and virtual infrastructure:

1.Platform APIs: Programmable access to network infrastructure begins with APIs that can access the entire end-to-end network infrastructure. OpenFlow, onePK and CLI are examples of such APIs.

2.Controllers and Agents: This pillar provides the automated provisioning of network services and apps. A controller, that is open sourced with OpenDaylight, is at the heart of this pillar and interacts with agents embedded on network infrastructure elements and enables automated provisioning, orchestration and access to network wide analytics.

3.Virtual Overlays: Any comprehensive, end-to-end network environment increasingly includes virtualised infrastructure. Cisco ONE provides multiple ways of seamlessly connecting the physical and virtual infrastructure.

The new and updated products include new platforms for the campus and the branch portions of corporate networks. For example, the Cisco Catalyst 6800 Series switches are built for campus backbone 10/40/100 Gpbs services. They feature network programmability and investment protection through compatibility with the widely deployed Catalyst 6500 Series Switches. For branch deployments, Cisco is growing the widely deployed routing family with the new Cisco ISR 4451-AX. With these innovations, Cisco is helping IT organisations make an impact on the business by quickly enabling new business models and accelerating service deployment. Cisco is also helping IT organisations better take advantage of technology transitions like mobility, cloud and the Internet of Things, while accelerating the rollout of apps by providing a services-rich, open and programmable architecture.
