New Update

The challenges were rather straightforward here. MIS were able to publish

only static reports to the management on a daily basis, at an unsatisfactory

time spent, making cost and time per report very high for City Union bank (CUB).

Like many other enterprises, the management was looking for dynamic interactive

reports with 'slice and dice' capabilities which for the MIS team to generate

were very complex. Adding to CUB's problems was the fact that beyond the time

taken to generate reports, it took longer to make minor alterations to be

reflected in the DB server. The bank thus, had a clear task in mind; reduce the

reporting load on the DB Server, reduce time per report generated and provide

dynamic data change capabilities.

CUB, with help from an implementation partner, Team Computers, formulated a

tool called QlikView which enabled dashboard and dynamic reporting with slice &

dice options to the last granular level. It went a step ahead and could handle

large data set of over 30 Crore Records, with specialized techniques like

dynamic, telescopic summarization and data optimization to increase efficiency

and agility. The traditional mental marriage to FORMATS instead of DATA was a

real challenge, and though the application could produce rich visualizations

giving Trends and Distributions with slicing & dicing capabilities, the users

were unable to switch immediately from the traditional FORMAT driven reports to

INTERACTIVE ANALYTICS.

CUB claims that it has helped the MIS Team in saving more than 50% of their

valuable time for generation of their regular reports. This has helped them in

generating more value for the bank by providing additional reports to help the

business.
