Cognizant has always focused upon being a harbinger in realizing the need for

newer technologies for addressing the needs of the hour. This attitude has

resulted in Cognizant implementing many security solutions over the past 5

years. Success of a Data Security Suite implementation squarely lies on the

effectiveness of the data classification efforts done by the organization. Data

classification is the foundation of an effective DLP implementation, but its

complexity made it the most difficult and time-consuming activity during the

implementation. With a heterogeneous environment servicing customers across many

different sectors/verticals, this indeed was a difficult task for a service

provider like Cognizant. An Enterprise wide Data Loss Prevention system

monitoring system was deployed for analyzing all the outgoing Email and Proxy

communication. In addition to this Cognizant was able to identify critical

terminals and are in the process of installing the DLP Agents. After the

deployment the immediate benefit was the increased level of security awareness

among associates on Information security and privacy. Till date they were

educating the Associates based only on statistical figures and third-party

exposures. Now, due to DLP, showcasing the incidents affecting the associate

directly has become possible. Cognizant is expecting increased customer

confidence in its efforts for Information Protection. Many bidding processes

carried out by its business team are enhanced by the project.
