New Update

The concept for this portal came from the fact that online database of

Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals in India isn't available.

There was no web based interface for speedy communication among the LIS

professionals across the country. Other missing things in this arena were an

integrated searching and browsing platform for all Open Access (OA) English

language journals in all fields of human knowledge, and lack of a web based

online Encyclopedia of Library and Information Science to support the budding

professionals.

This project was conceptualized and in the first phase eleven works of 'LIS

Links' was launched by 26th January 2009. The portal is essentially a social

networking and collaborating initiative platform for LIS professionals across

the globe. The team had used multiple free online websites to host and create a

LIS community of eleven different services including LIS Links, Link Library,

etc. You can find all the links from

http://lislinks.ning.com/
.

This initiative has made this portal one of India's best in LIS and among a

very few in the world.
