This book is meant for intermediate to advanced programmers who want to know about .NET Remoting. The samples that have been given in this book are written in VB. The second half of the book talks about the extensibility hooks of the .NET Remoting framework. These chapters can help you learn creating your own sinks to intercept remote requests. You can also build your own transport protocol based on SMTP and POP3 on top of the .NET Remoting framework extensibility model.
