If you're into managing databases, then this book is
meant for you. It talks about the recent advances in data warehousing
technology. The book answers questions like what a data warehouse is, what it
needs and how it works. It covers data warehousing technique for customer sales
and support, data warehousing for decision support, and data mining and
exploration warehousing. It also gives an overview of the integration of data
warehouses with ERP systems. The book talks about the outlook of data warehouses
and its design, which explains the types of data warehousing models, such as
mid-level data model and physical data model. Plus, also know how to normalize
and re-normalize the data in various types of data models. In chapter 6, the
book discusses distributed data warehouse, which means data warehouse located in
different geographical zone, and how easily you can integrate them. If you want
to migrate data from a small data center to a data warehouse, and know the steps
involved and the methodology that you should follow, it's all described in
chapter 9. In addition, the book also explains how traditional data warehouses
can be integrated with new technologies.
