This is an entry-level motherboard for running office productivity applications. Unlike other boards in its class, this one has a DV1 port, which allows one to connect it to a monitor with a digital port. This can be useful for watching HDV content. The Jetway M28GT3-SDG is based on NVIDIA NF-7025-630A chipset supporting 64 bit, socket AM2 based Athlon 64X2 and Sempron processors. It has four DDR-II memory slots supporting up to 8 GB RAM. It also supports SATA RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and JBOD. It has one 10/100/1000 LAN port, one PCI-Express x16 slot and two 32-bit PCI slots. The key feature of this motherboard is that it uses CPU throttling technology, which protects the CPU from overheating. It cools the CPU by decreasing its speed whenever it reaches high preset temperatures like 80 or 90°C. This reduces the chances of system reboots. On the performance front the board gave average scores compared to other entry-level boards in this price bracket. We tested the board with an Athlon 64X2, 2 GHz CPU, 1 GB RAM, 120 GB HDD and Windows XP. In PCMark 05 it scored 1,123 PCMarks. In 3DMark 05 and 3DMark 06 the scores were 793 and 394 respectively. In Business Winstone 2002, the board gave a score of 40.2. In Doom3 the average frame rate was 16.0 FPS and in POV Ray the average was 76.08 FPS.
