New Update

The Creative Inspire 2.1 2500 speakers won't turn your head but can definitely help you head-bang without digging a deep hole in your pocket. Rated at 29 W RMS (6 W for each satellite and 17 W for the sub-woofer), they play well.

We played a wide spectrum of music from heavy metal to classical and soft Indipop numbers and found the speakers delivering well enough for their category. The bass is deep and powerful though the treble is slightly weak. Pl.ayed on low volume, the sound is clear and at high volumes it will get your feet tapping.

The speakers have a rated frequency range of 40 Hz to 20 kHz, and were able to reproduce it well up to 18 kHz, which is good. There is something to say about their design as well, which is not flat like most other speakers, but slightly curved. This uses Creative's Image Focusing Plate technology, which is meant to provide good quality sonic imaging wherein you are able to hear different instruments playing in a piece of music separately from the voice. The looks are definitely not very fancy though the speakers look classy enough in their unassuming black garb. The speakers come with a wired remote control for the satellites but to adjust the bass controls for the sub-woofer you have to reach for its back.

One small setback was that the volume control on the remote doesn't give a linear rise in volume when turned. The volume becomes very loud at a slight rotation of the knob. The wires for the satellites are just long enough to be accommodated on your desk. They come with rubber feet and stands. All speakers have proper shielding. Go for these if you want to get a good loud sound without spending too much.
