This router is meant for large enterprises. It has two
10/100 inbuilt LAN ports and four network module slots. It also supports serial
(sync/async) ISDN BRI U Fast Ethernet Network Interface Modules.
It has an MPC8245 266 MHz processor with 8 MB flash
upgradeable to 72 MB or 256 MB SDRAM. One of the interesting features is its
'modularity.' It provides a slew of optional modules a user can choose for
his connectivity needs. These include a maximum port density of 16 #, high speed
sync serial/async ports per chassis, 16 BRI U ports per chassis, four
channelized E1/E1 PRI ports and six fast Ethernet ports on a single chassis.

It uses QoS to allow optimization of the bandwidth and for
effective traffic management. This is achieved using features such as First in
First Out (FIFO), Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ), Priority Queuing, Custom Queuing,
RSVP and Policy Routing.
The device is loaded with authorization and
accounting (PAP/CHAP, TACACS, RADIUS), network address translation
(NAT) and IP packet filtering. It also allows end-to-end secured hardware based
encryption, with IPsec module fixed in the router. By default, this is supported
by industry standard security protocols such as IPsec, DES, 3DES and AES. We
tested this router between two physical networks that were connected via a
switch. We ran NetIQ's Qcheck to measure throughput data transfer, streaming
rate and response time. The router gave a throughput of 70 Mbps on transferring
1000 KB of payload from one end to another. Its response time was 1ms. In the
streaming test the router gave 997 Kbps with 1000 Kbps streaming data payload.
Bottom Line: If you are looking for a feature rich
product for your enterprise then this one is for you
