Dax DX-5026 MF

This manageable switch supports port mirroring, trunking and SNMP-based management. This is a 24 port 10/100 Mbps manageable switch for small to medium businesses. Its key features are two fiber module slots, which can take optional 100 Mbps slide-in fiber modules. It supports auto-negotiation, full and half duplex and auto MDI/MDI-X for cross over cables. It is capable of creating 26 groups of port-based VLAN, which lets you divide the network into logical segments. It supports multicast filtering, to direct multicast traffic to the participating nodes. The switch is very easy to set up and can be managed through its Web interface, Telnet or a direct console cable. It also supports SMNP-based management. The switch also supports port mirroring for monitoring all traffic flowing through the switch. In this the switch copies and forwards the traffic from all ports to the mirroring port. It also supports port trunking for attaining higher bandwidth, where in up to 12 ports can be combined to give higher bandwidth.

This switch is similar to the DX-5026MG switch we reviewed earlier. The only difference is that the MG could take both Gigabit as well as fiber modules in its expansion slots, while this one can only take fiber modules.
