New Update

Dell has launched its range of printing devices in India for home offices, small and medium businesses and workgroups. In our lab, we have tested Dell 2330DN. This is a LaserJet printer which has both the USB and network ports. With 400 MHz processor, it supports a maximum print resolution of 1200 dpi, but its RAM is paltry 32MB which can be extended upto 288MB by installing additional 256MB memory module. It has a standard paper tray that can hold upto 250 sheets of paper and you can also purchase an optional 550 sheet drawer. It also has a multi-purpose feeder that can load various paper types like envelope.

To test this printer, we installed it over the network. It provides OS support including Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X. The installation was easy and the printer detected the network automatically. In the normal mode, it took 6 seconds to print the first page while in best mode it took 9 seconds and a page containing text and graphics took 7 seconds. To check the speed of the printing, we printed 30 pages and it took 57 seconds to print them. To check the duplex printing speed we printed 30 pages and it took 1minute 49 seconds to print those pages.

The quality of the printouts was really good. In terms of print quality and performance, this printer is equivalent to HP LaserJet P2055dn (reviewed in August '09), which was also a duplex, network printer and in the 30k price segment.

Bottomline: Ideal for SMBs and workgroups that need a fast, reliable printer for high quality business prints.
