Four brands made it to the Users' Choice club this year. The winner amongst
these is VSNL/Tata Communication, which leads by a wide margin over the
runner-up Airtel. The other two, viz Sify and Reliance Infocomm are close behind
Airtel. Amongst all respondents that showed brand loyalty for what they were
using, VSNL had the maximum loyal respondents. Shift in to VSNL from other
brands however was lower than the other brands. VSNL/Tata had the strongest
brand perception amongst five out of the seven industries we reached out to. Its
perception was alarmingly low amongst the discrete manufacturing companies, and
relatively lower brand perception amongst healthcare and education segments.
Airtel on the other hand seems to have the highest brand perception in the
healthcare and discrete manufacturing segments. Sify enjoys a decent presence in
the communication media industry, and moderate presence in the others. Its
presence in the healthcare industry is alarmingly low. Coming to brand shifts,
Sify seems to be the most stable with 67% brand loyalty, and only 17% of its
existing not being sure of which brand to switch to. Reliance Infocomm has an
alarmingly low brand loyalty amongst its existing users. But the good thing is
that 88% of them are not sure or have no plans of shifting. Maybe this is
happening because this is not something in which users can switch brands so
easily.
