This is a 600 VA line-interactive UPS for both homes and small offices. The front panel LEDs indicate normal operation, battery operation, and fault. A switch for on/off is also on the front. On the rear are three output sockets, a built-in fuse, and a serial interface. We missed having a telephone line surge protector on this model. It has a no-load auto shut-off feature that switches off the UPS after 30 seconds if there’s nothing connected to its output. The batteries are maintenance-free.
The UPS lived up to its claimed rating of 600 VA. So, it can handle up to 360 W of load without any problems. It can also withstand the mains voltage fluctuations pretty well. So it doesn’t switch to battery even if the voltage drops down to 144 V, or shoots up to 278 V. The output voltage range that the UPS supplies to the load you connect is between 185 and 252 V, which is good, but not the best. The UPS gave us a backup time of about six minutes at 80 percent of its rated load, which is 288 W or 480 VA.
The UPS comes with UPSilon software for Windows, Linux and Free BSD. A serial interface cable is also provided in the box, which can be connected to the PC.
