Embed Videos in HTML Pages

How do you embed video on a Web page? You can use MS FrontPage 2000, one of the most popular and easiest website-development tools. Users can play videos inside the HTML page without opening a Windows Media Player separately. 

In this article we will show you how to include video footage on a Web page.

Configure Media Player ActiveX in FrontPage 2000

Open FrontPage 2000 and any existing Web content that you have created (or even a new Web page). Now, in FrontPage go to File>Import. An Import dialog box will open, where you can add the video footage that you would like to import to the Web page. Click on Add to choose the video file and then on OK.

After importing the video files in FrontPage, you need to add Windows Media Player ActiveX control. Click on Insert on the menu bar. On the drop-down menu that will open up, select Advance>ActiveX control.

You will get a dialog box, showing the list of all the available ActiveX controls for FrontPage 2000. Scroll down the control list and select the Windows Media Player and click on OK. 

With this, you will get an embedded Windows Media Player on the Web page.

Now, configure the behavior of the embedded Windows Media Player on your Web page, such as selection of video files and enabling/disabling media player controls pallets.

To add video on the Web page, right-click on the embedded Windows Media Player from the FrontPage 2000 and select ActiveX Control Properties. This will open a window with four tabs (Playback, Advanced, Object Tag and Parameters).

Select the Parameter tab, which will show you the various attributes of embedded Windows Media Player. Scroll down and select Filename attribute and click on Modify. This will open an Edit properties window. Here under the Value option select the Data radio button and type the file name of your video file. If you are hosting it on the Internet, give the full URL of the site where you have kept the video files. For example

http://pcquest.com/ videos/filename.avi.

After filling the video file name, click on OK.

Now your page is ready with embedded video. To test it, open the HTML page with a Web browser. If you get an error, then check out the path of your video file that you set in the Edit properties Window (Step 4), while modifying the attributes.
