Encryption solution: Bluest Cryptshield

Bluest Cryptshield is one application that can encrypt data on USB drives and hard disks.

Installing the software is quite easy, and takes a few simple steps at the end of which you have to assign a password to access the Cryptshield interface. It supports three encryption algorithms, namely Rijndael (AES), Twofish and Blowfish (448 bit).

To test the product, we created a virtual drive on a 4 GB USB flash drive, and from the software, chose the “Create Shielded Drive” option, which encrypts the entire drive. After selecting this option, we got two further options. One is the Whole Drive option in which, after encryption, you cannot use the drive in a system which does not have Cryptshield installed on it. Second is “Dynamic Detection Drive” option wherein after encryption, you can access the drive from any system using a password. After that we got the option to choose the encryption type and file system and assigned a password to access it and with that the encryption process started and took approximately 10 minutes to encrypt the USB drive of size 4GB.

Once the encryption is finished we got a new drive in My Computer by the name” CS-Mounted” which is the virtual drive of a USB flash drive. We saved some data in it. To unmount the drive we opened the physical USB drive and clicked on icon “unmounts.exe” created during the encryption encryption process. We tried to access the drive in some other system but when we opened the drive, we got the files created during encryption. We created the icon “mount.exe” present in the drive itself. Next, the drive was mounted and we were able to access it using a password and found our data.

Bottomline: A good application to save your data from being accessed by unwanted persons.
