Five brands made it to the Users' Choice club this time. The top three remain
the same as last year, but their positions have shifted. The top spot has been
taken by HP/Compaq, followed by IBM at a distant second. Close on the heels of
IBM is Veritas, followed by Sun and Seagate. HP/Compaq enjoys the highest brand
loyalty amongst its existing owners. 60% of the respondents who were using
HP/Compaq data backup solutions said that they're likely to choose the same
brand in the next 6 months also. IBM's brand loyalty was lower than HP/Compaq's
at 42%. Moreover, IBM also needs to watch out because 14% of its customers said
that they're likely to switch to HP/Compaq. The brand loyalty for Veritas was at
a similar level as IBM at 43%, and its existing customers displayed a likelihood
of shifting to various brands, including Sony, HP/Compaq, and IBM. HP/Compaq
also demonstrated strong brand perception across all seven industries we reached
out to. There was only a minor dip in the healthcare segment for this brand. IBM
on the other hand, was very strong in healthcare, services, and IT/ITeS
segments. It was moderately strong in discrete and process manufacturing, and
BFSI; while the worrying segments for IBM are education, communication and media
industries. Veritas was also a little weak in BFSI and healthcare, and we didn't
get any response for it in the education segment.
