We have six contenders who made it to the prestigious Users' Choice club. The
winner remains the same as last year--Bharti/Airtel. This time however, VSNL/Tata
indicom has climbed one step in the ladder and has come to second position.
Following VSNL we have BSNL, Reliance Infocomm, Satyam/Sify, and finally MTNL.
The key reason why most of our respondents are likely to shift to the top
brands in the near future, viz VSNL and BSNL was reliability followed by brand
name. In case of Bharti however, brand name came up as more important than
reliability. In case of Bharti, for some reason, initial price also came up as a
key reason for choosing the brand. Perhaps Bharti is offering more aggressive
pricing than others in the market. Bharti enjoys a brand loyalty of 52% among
its existing customers. VSNL on the other hand managed to keep 62% of its
customers loyal. Reliance Infocomm on the other hand is in a bit of trouble,
because 14% of its existing users said they're likely to switch to VSNL, 5% to
HCL Comnet, and another 5% to Bharti. Industry wise, Bharti is doing very well
across all segments except healthcare and IT/ITeS where its presence is
moderate. VSNL fares better in these two segments. BSNL is doing very well in
BFSI and education verticals. Other brands are pretty much moderately
distributed across verticals.
