New Update

Organizations continually need to enhance skills and knowledge of their

employees in tune with changes in technologies and business models. However, it

is not practically possible to arrange for trainers for just about every skill.

Traditionally, training at Essar involved huge investments on the entire process

and towards logistics to reach to the entire spectrum of users across business

verticals spanning Steel, Energy, Power, Communications, Shipping,

Constructions, BPO and Information Technology. Also, it was a challenge to

monitor the effective usage of such a training system. The company implemented

an e-learning solution for employees, so they could get trained at convenience

and also to ensure uniformity in training modules. The portal caters to over

thirteen thousand employees, across multiple geographical locations. It helped

Essar as an organization to aspire for higher knowledge capital using the

e-learning initiative with minimum investment. The application has been designed

on a multi-tier architecture model using .NET Framework 2.0 with AJAX components

and SQL Server 2005 as database on Windows platform. The cost of physical

training at remote locations has now reduced without compromising on the

learning objectives.
