This device is purely meant for security–so no one can mess around with your PC when you are away. It is being launched shortly and uses a CMOS chip instead of optical scanning. The pros are that it’s cheaper than optical scanning devices, while on the flip side, it isn’t as sturdy.
DesCop connects to your PC’s USB port, and you have to put your finger on its scanner to register your fingerprint. It has red and green LEDs to tell you whether your fingerprint is of acceptable quality or whether you need to give it again. More than one user can register on the same machine.

Like the MouseFP, it goes into screensaver mode when you’re not around, and you need to feed in your fingerprint to access the system. You can encrypt specific files or folders, right down to individual-file level, and even encrypt files you transfer over the network. A user with administrative rights can add or remove users from the network.
Log and audit tools let you see who accessed what on your system at which time, what files were accessed, encrypted or decrypted, and so on.
Price: Rs 8,000-10,000 (estimated).
