New Update

Nokia has announced its first ever dual-SIM based Lumia 630 smartphone for India that will be available from 16 May onwards. Dual SIM devices in the country have gained higher traction over the past 10 to 14 months and Nokia has taken the demand into consideration before adding Lumia 630 to its bulging Lumia Windows Phone (WP) line-up in the country. "The dual-SIM smartphone penetration in India stands at high 80% which clearly emphasizes the need of consumer wherein a single device is expected to offer them a dual-life experience," said P Balaji, managing director, Nokia India. "Keeping this in mind and the fact that India is a very price conscious market Lumia 630 will be targeted at users looking for a complete dual purpose device at an affordable range.

The Lumia 630 has a lot of firsts on its list. This one is the first-ever Lumia device to come with WP 8.1 platform out of box. The phone is the first quad-core powered Lumia smartphone that is catering to mass market and also you have the first budget phone to offer 128 GB microSD card support.

By now you must be well aware of the improvements that come along with WP 8.1 platform and understand what's new in the updated OS. The likes of Notification centre make their appearance, dual-SIM option, FM Radio and transfer app to SDcard option have been introduced and lot more. Coming back to Lumia 630, you have a smartphone that serial wise succeeds the Lumia 620 but can be seen as more of a Lumia 525 upgrade.

The phone sports a 4.5 inch LCD display coated with durable Corning Glass 3. It packs a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 chipset which powers the high-selling Moto G smartphone but clubbed with meagre 512 MB RAM. You get 5 MP rear snapper sans flash but with autofocus and no front camera.

The phone offers Smart dual-SIM feature that helps you navigate from one SIM to another without any hassle and even lets you take calls simply by switching the SIM onboard. It is backed up by an 1830 mAh battery that might not suffice for many hard-core dual SIM users. The phone is priced at Rs 11,500 for the dual SIM variant which goes on sale from 16 May onwards while the single SIM model priced at Rs 10,500 will hit shelves in month's time.
