The Problem: GKNM Hospital is a multi-specialty hospital since 1952. As the hospital grew, it became very difficult to manage the clinical details of the maternity patients. This further delayed the discharging process of the patients as gathering details was time consuming. Clinical data of the patient is mandatory in every stage of the delivery and the process is critical.

The Solution: Labour Theatre Information System is a comprehensive solution for entry and retrieval of obstetric details of the patient. It gives an insight about the current patients and also suggests the progress in advance. It captures all vital data including antenatal complications, medical/surgical disorders, fatal heart rate monitoring, delivery details, and much more. All the data is pooled for statistics and for discharge summary. This solution was developed using Visual Basic and Oracle 10g.

The Result: The solution acts as a decision-making tool with existing data. The patients are benefited as the clinicians have their medical details readily available. The discharge summary is created on the fly and this significantly reduces patient's waiting time. Also, birth details are updated to the Government authorities using the solution.
