Google to End Play Music in October Finally, Now It Will Be Youtube Music

Ever since the launch of Youtube Music, it was just a matter of time but the news has been confirmed. Google Play Music will be now gone from Playstore and along with it many playlists that its users create. Google launched its Youtube Music app in 2018 to compete with other music streaming services like Spotify and Amazon Prime music. Youtube music was always intended to be a streaming service by Google. On the other hand, Google play music was not just a music streaming service but also a music player made by Google for Android devices. Google has been aggressive with its Youtube Music service to users. 

What will happen to Google Play Music?

After October Google Music play will shut down for good. In the official blog post on Youtube, it said that users of Play music will be able to transfer their music library to Youtube music using a transfer tool or Google Takeout. Once the service finally closes in October the default music app by Google will be Youtube Music. Youtube music is offering users a premium plan that will not only let them download music offline but also use Youtube Premium services in the same plan. The price of the plan is Rs. 129 for single user and Rs. 189 for family plan in India. 

Why You Should Be Switching to Youtube Music Now?

Google has been aggressive with implementing Youtube Music and there is a good reason for them to do so. For years, Apple has given its users the Apple Music service which has been not doing that great anymore but was dominating the music streaming services at a time. Now that Spotify has become the standard for music streaming on both iOS and Android it makes sense for Google to offer Android users a music streaming service. Not only will it eat the share of Spotify users due to the cheap prices of the plans but also it has been integrated with many Google apps like Maps and over time it will be implemented with Alarm and other Google apps as well.
