It's hard to understand Google's decision behind rebranding a successful Nexus line-up which boasts of products like Nexus, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 smartphone and tablet respectively. The US major has been instrumental in shaping up the growth trajectory of vendors like Asus and LG and among other who joined hands with Google to manufacture the Nexus 7 tablet and Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 smartphones.

Other than the Nexus line-up Google started offering the pure Android experience with its Google Edition devices like Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One to name a few. Nexus devices have been billed as value-for-money products that come stocked with top-end hardware, up-to-date Android software as well as nicely built devices.

The news of discontinuing Nexus device may come as a rude awakening for numerous vendors who might have to resort to selling and offering similar competent devices on their own.
