The Pain point
Located in Indian, Hero MotoCorp Ltd required to transform the automotive component testing procedure at the Gurgaon manufacturing plant. This is also because any product failing in the market due to faulty components adversely impacts the financials of the automaker and the brand value due to loss of customer trust. The two wheelers are manufactured across four globally benchmarked manufacturing facilities in Gurgaon, Dharuhera, Haridwar and Neemrana. “Component testing is of paramount importance for maintaining high quality standards of existing vehicles being manufactured on the assembly line. It plays an equally important role for the R&D Engineering team while evaluating the performance of new vehicles being tested and launched,” said Ankit Taparia, Termatrix Technologies
Hero MotoCorp (HMCL) and Teramatrix have implemented a connected quality control scenario whereby testing machines within HMCL’s Gurgaon manufacturing plant have been connected to xFusion IoT software platform. Quality and defect logs generated while testing different auto components from multiple vendors and across multiple test types (e.g. repeated operation, vibration etc.) are stored in Azure cloud in automated fashion. xFusion analytics and co-relation engine acts on this real-time streaming data for generating actionable insights and proactive notifications to ensure 24×7 continuity of various testing cycles, continuous product improvement and overall productivity enhancement. With real-time consolidated dashboards and testing reports available with concerned teams, it has reduced the human intervention in the quality testing process resulting in higher accuracy, efficiency and most importantly faster decision making.
““The Enterprise IoT market in India is reaching an inflection point whereby we are observing an inadvertent pull for the connected solutions from businesses in different sectors. Leading industry players within Automotive, Telecom, and Manufacturing have started using Teramatrix xFusion IoT platform deployed over Microsoft Azure to digitally transform their operations and enhance customer experience. The most important success attribute of our product – xFusion has been its ability to enable enterprises in taking their first essential step towards IoT with agility. With good traction and momentum going for us we are on path to be the leading IoT start-up unlocking the true economic potential of IoT,” added Taparia.
The solution has reduced human intervention in the quality testing process resulting in higher accuracy, efficiency and most importantly faster decision making like;
- 24×7 continuity of various testing cycles
- No deviation in testing plan priorities with system controlled automation
- 20% expected increase in direct and indirect manpower productivity
- Provided KPI analysis to alert executives of potential problems
- Proactive scheduling and monitoring of the quality assurance test equipment and reduced quality assurance test process time; Lower turn-around time
“The component testing environment has been digitally transformed through Teramatrix Connected Quality Control solution. The testing operations which were manual in nature has been automated. Quality and defect logs generated while testing different auto components from multiple vendors and across multiple test types are now stored in Azure cloud and acted upon by Teramatrix xFusion IoT platform. This has reduced human intervention in the quality testing process resulting in higher accuracy, efficiency and proactive decision making,” revealed Hero Moto Corp.
