1. Size- The maximum size to choose a television depends on the room where the TV will be used, the space available, viewing distance, and the set up configuration. For example, a bedroom TV will typically be smaller than a TV in the family room. If the TV is intended to fit into an entertainment centre, it would need at least an inch of space around the sides and on top of the TV for proper ventilation.

2. Plasma, LCD or LED- The latest TV screen technology offers three choices: plasma, LCD or LED. Each screen type has its optimum uses. Available in huge screens of 42" and larger, Plasma TVs provide the ultimate viewing pleasure for sports, fast-paced action films, and nature-themed documentaries in living colours. Plasma TVs are best suited for rooms with dim lights. Televisions with LCD screens depend on a large source of light, making them excellent for daily use. However, the bulkier back of LCD TVs does not make them ideal as wall models. With their light emitting diode (LED) backlights, LED TVs are the newer iteration on LCD screens. The LED feature creates brighter pictures, sharp contrasts and vibrant colours that are suitable for a broad range of programmes. LED TVS are optimised for rooms with bright lights. Their slim, sleek style is a handy space saver.

3. Picture Quality and High-Definition TVs high-definition (HD) technology, is rated top priority in consumers' buying decisions. Other significant factors come into play, such as refresh rates, processing rates, picture settings and room lighting. The two current types of TV resolution adapted for HD broadcasts are HD Ready and Full HD. Designed for smaller screens, HD Ready (720p) produces a picture quality two times sharper than the basic standard picture. Full HD (1080p) provides full resolution with an image output five times sharper than standard definition. It is perfectly suited for large screens, HD broadcasted channels and Blu-ray movies.

4. Audio quality or AV Input/Output- Quality of sound matters as much as the visual experience. One should consider the Audio Video input and Audio Output jackets while purchasing a TV.

5. Price- Cost of the television plays an important role in consumers' buying decisions. Many stores offer interest-free financing for up to a year which can help you purchase a good television.
