This year HR business has done considerable measures of soul seeking about the way culture, execution and learning and development (L&D) issues were taken care of inside the organizations. The year 2018, is about to witness another huge inner move, however, this time the attention is towards developing innovative learning platforms: how is it utilized to discover individuals, interface individuals, draw in individuals, even supplant individuals — and what to do when it happens?

The buzz word for 2018 in today’s L&D business will be in creating assisted learning platforms. Would we be able to create and assemble HR programming that will empower the employees? Will we be able to create a blended learning experience for the employees? The answer is the coming year will witness this disruptive technology being implemented by various conglomerates Globally.

These are three greatest learning and development patterns I foresee will be an additional task to look out for by HR’s in India;

1) Assisted Learning Intelligence (A.L.I)- A.L.I will be respected and a new wave to look out for the coming year. The system brings the learning you need and helps transcend the conventional learning platforms. The A.L.I casts a wide net within the organization and across the internet to collate learning material on any subject. It co-relates one’s learning behavior, how everyone else in the organization has been learning and the patterns of learning that emerge with the help of internet. It then uses an intelligent algorithm to focus, vet and filter what it has collected to bring only essential learning to you. In your time, in your way.

2) Reinvention of Corporate Learning & Development Technology (L&D)

Another type of corporate learning apparatuses which will catch on and organizations are snapping them up rapidly and planning to implement in the coming year is introducing new edge “learning and development” technology for their employees. These technologies incorporate the "experience stages," marry it with modernized L&D frameworks and new Artificial Intelligence (AI) based frameworks to prescribe learning, discover learning and convey learning. I hope to see more intelligent and more quick-witted advancements to enable us to discover “on-the-go, bite-sized learning". Join me in welcoming new innovative L & D platforms in India which will give employees a certain degree of autonomy and responsibility for decision-making regarding their specific organizational tasks.

3) Microlearning at work

In 2018 Microlearning is expected to go full-tilt with super curated content and new age platforms. Yes, organizations have been experiencing the need to implement new technology platforms for “Microlearning” which is seen as a bridge between more extensive programs of learning and development and supporting employee functioning inside the workflow of a normal day. I think there lies a huge opportunity to streamline (or even remove) existing ‘courses’ and replace with shorter, more engaging richer content which learners can engage with on their own terms.

We were excited to meet L&D enthusiasts at DevLearn 2017 a month back at The Mirage, Las Vegas. It’s the right time for corporates worldwide to use AI and A.L.I to pinpoint content to a learner and provide a capability index for every individual in the organization. The organizations that distinguish the new future of jobs, embrace these revolutions in technology and becomes flexible content curators rather than rigid content “pushers” with aimless “consumers” will benefit and lead the way for others. It is easy to become confused by the many competing trends that you are being told are the next panacea to all the organization’s learning and development needs. The fact is it takes thoughtful analysis, research to determine which if any of these innovations will make a positive and sustainable difference in the life of the employees.
