Instagram Reels have become extremely popular, no doubt because to the enormous popularity of short form video on social media platforms, especially TikTok. Instagram did not previously enable users to download the short videos that are shared on its network, unlike TikTok does.

How to Download Instagram Reels?

Adam Mosseri, CEO of Instagram, made the announcement that users can now download the platform's reels by making use of the brand-new broadcast feature. However, at this time, this feature is only available to US users.

Reels cannot be downloaded if you use Instagram on the web because it is only available on mobile. Reels can only be downloaded from Instagram accounts that are public, not private. In addition, users who have public accounts control whether or not their reels can be downloaded.

It's not hard to get an Instagram reel downloaded:

  • Select Download by tapping the Share icon for a reel.
  • After that, it would be stored in your camera roll.
  • The Instagram logo and the account's name will appear as watermarks on reels.

TikTok's approach is comparable to this. One reason for TikTok's monstrous fame is that it permitted recordings to be downloaded and posted on different organizations. People came back to TikTok as a result, and the network grew even more as a result. Since Instagram is currently employing a strategy that is comparable, it would be interesting to observe how that plays out for Instagram.

Instagram will no longer promote videos with a TikTok watermark or any other watermark after 2021. In an effort to discourage cross-platform sharing, YouTube introduced a logo-based watermark in August of last year on downloaded Shorts, the company's short video product. So this move by Instagram to allow clients to download Reels could be a strategy to draw in individuals to observe happier on the stage.

Meta's growth and revenue have been primarily driven by reels over the past few quarters. Mark Zuckerberg stated on the earnings call for the first quarter of 2023 that AI-powered Reels recommendations contributed 24% more time spent on Instagram.
