To burn 650 MB of data to a 52x CD-R and to make an audio CD out of 74 min audio, the Iomega took 5 min and 17 sec. This is 47 sec more than the time taken by the Sony drive. Coming to the DVD tests, the Iomega took 14 min 30 sec to burn 4.3 GB of data on 4x DVD-R media and 14 min on 4x DVD+R media. This means the drive burns data faster on DVD+R media. While formatting the DVD-RW media, the drive took only 41 sec, which is very good.

The drive comes with some useful software for writing CD-Rs and DVD-Rs, for burning home videos and for automatic back ups on CD-Rs and DVDs. If you are a Nero user, go for version 6. Otherwise the drive will not be recognized as a recording device.
