New Update

This is a very lightweight drive for carrying important data when on the move. It doubles as a key ring. It can work on Windows, Mac and Linux. For Win 2k and above, it doesn’t need any drivers–plug the drive into a USB port, and the OS automatically detects and activates it. For Win 98 and Mac, you need to download the drivers from Iomega’s website. Once the drive is installed, it lets you download other software from the site. One of these is the Iomega Mini Lock. This password protects a part of the drive so that it can be used to save files you don’t want others to access. You can define the size for the reserved area. With the Mini Control Panel you can synchronize data between any folder on the hard drive and the mini drive. So if you add or delete files in one folder, the software automatically updates the other folder. It doesn’t however synchronize modifications made within the files. For that, you have to select the modified file manually from the list, and replace the it in the other folder. It also synchronizes My Favorites and My Documents folders. The Active Disk technology lets you download apps from Iomega’s website that run directly from the USB drive. The drive is quite fast as far as data transfers are concerned. It can transfer 62 MB of MP3 files in just over a minute. We have one crib that all accompanying software should come on a CD. Overall, a good buy, but expensive if you’re not going to use any of its software.
