New Update

IRCTC, the Indian railway online ticketing destination is now available to Windows Phone 8 users or in other words Nokia Lumia users in the country. Now, one would have to say that Windows Phone 8 is not the most app populated platform in comparison to Android and iOS; however, you get all the basic stuff like WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and so on. In come IRCTC with their app that apparently makes train booking more convenient on your smart devices.

IRCTC is the most popular e-commerce site in the country that is evident with the amount of traffic the site records every second, minute, hour and even days due to which the site is notoriously slow and often crashes too. So how different is the IRCTC Windows Phone 8 app? Well, the answer does not differ from the actual site.

To make use of the app, one needs to login with their ID and a 4 letter TPIN code that can be generated via your account (the process is available along with the app). If you clear the first step and make it through to the home page of IRCTC, then you can follow basic booking steps and get yourself an e-ticket without switching on your laptops.

Enough of bashing, the app interface is quite refreshing and unlike IRCTC.co.in, the app is well design, has shades of blue, pink and nice visual of railway track at the bottom.

All in all, the app looks good, performance is under par which can be worked out by IRCTC and may be have a home page link on the login page as well.
