New Update

Jayant has been managing IT infrastructure in the power domain for the past

16 years. He specializes in Project Management, SCADA, Distribution automation

including Real-time systems, Networking, MIS and e-Governance for Utilities. He

took his first challenging assignment in 1993 when he was posted at NTPC, Dadri.

The company had decided to phase out the outdated legacy systems and replace

them with enterprise-wide on-line integrated database system. The entire

exercise involved extensive process re-engineering, data migration, software

testing, quality control checks, system integration and training. Unfazed by the

challenge, his team conceived the idea of having a data center, set up multiple

RISC-based servers (considered high-end in those days) and connected remote

business units on a heterogeneous network of Optical fiber, VSAT and Microwave.

How did the end-users take it? It was a culture shock for many users, but
gradually after intensive training, they became more and more conversant with

the new systems.

A thorough family man, he loves to play tennis and go swimming with his kids.

He longs to take his family on a long vacation to a seaside resort and indulge

in water sports--backwater cruise, snorkeling and parasailing. He enjoys reading

Jeffrey Archer, Dan Brown, Naipaul and historical fictions.
