Jindal Steel and Power - Simplifying Document Management

The Problem: JSPL at Angul Odisha was following manual procedure for records and document handling especially engineering drawings. This process was time consuming and the documents were exposed to risks of natural disasters, tampering and other hazards. This led to the idea of in-built workflow for routing files through a set of users for approval or reference.

The Solution: They implemented Simplifying Document Management. It consists of Document Management & Business Process Management System. Now the task was to digitize all the drawing, documents, technical specification, agreements, contracts and financial documents, to make them visible anytime anywhere.

The Result: It helped to streamline the business workflow and lead toward paperless office and also to centralize the documents. BPM has more than 26 processes and is also integrated with MS Office, MS RMS, AutoCAD, Unified Viewer and SAP. The DMS also helps in accessing the latest relevant documents on a project anytime anywhere. Integration with SMS service and mail client improved the intra and inter department conversation.
