The LDS Powersave UPS shares the seventh position with
the APC Backup Pro 280.
It has the shortest switchover time of all the units
tested--2.8 milliseconds. With a backup time of nine minutes and an efficiency of 83
percent at 285 watts, it provides good performance. A couple of years ago, the LDS would
have been a winner, but now there are UPSs with better performances and the LDS ended up
seventh.
LDS |
A rather heavy 500 VA offline UPS. Ultra-fast switchover, but could have done with better voltage regulation. Can take additional external batteries. Rs 11,800. RQS #E0532 Ranking: 7 (of 17 tested) Efficiency: 83% at 285 W Switchover time: 2.8 ms Backup time: 9 minutes |
The LDS is very heavy compared to the others, with a
fairly elaborate front panel--five indicators and three switches on the front, with three
outlets and terminals to connect external batteries to increase backup time. The LDS is
one model where the PCBs clearly state ''Made in India'' and it performs much better than a
lot of imported models.
It was able to start up the second 250 VA load. Its output
voltage regulation could have been better; that, and additional backup time, would have
taken it to the top.
