Lenovo launches slew of Android and Windows 8 Tablets in India

Lenovo has introduced its latest range of Android and Windows 8 tablets in India. The China-based company has brought the A1000, A3000 and S6000 Android tablets priced at Rs 8,999, Rs 16,000 and Rs 27,000 (excluding taxes) respectively. In addition to that, the company unveiled its Windows 8 tablet offerings ThinkPad Tablet 2 and IdeaPad Lynx priced at Rs 50,000 and Rs 51,999 in the country.

The A1000 and A3000 tablets will be Lenovo's entry into the highly competitive budget tablet space and compete amongst the likes of Acer, Samsung, Asus etc. The A1000 and A3000 sport a 7-inch 1024x600 display and based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean version respectively.

The A1000 packs a 1.2 GHz dual-core CPU while A3000 is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU both paired with 1 GB RAM, 4/16 GB internal storage, expandable up to 32 GB with microSD.

Unlike the global model, A1000 in India offers voice calling support, 2G only, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and other features like Dolby Digital speakers, microUSB and USB OTG and 0.3 MP front camera.

While the A3000 comes with 3G support, Wi-Fi, 5 MP rear camera, Bluetooth, 0.3 MP front camera and microUSB. Both the tablets weigh 345 grams and come loaded with 3500 mAh battery that will offer 7 hours support as per Lenovo.

The Windows 8 offering are targeted at the professionals and comes with dual-purpose (docking style) support and even a stylus pen. The A1000 is available at stores, the A3000 will be available from September onwards.
