This CD-R/RW IDE drive with
8x write, 4x rewrite, and 32x read speed didn’t perform too well. It took
about 29 minutes to do a direct write, which was the longest recorded of the
lot. The drive could write only 648 MB of data on the disk, while the others
wrote 652 MB. It took about 40 minutes to create an ISO image and burn it.
The drive also gave buffer underruns at its rated 8x write speed, so we had
to reduce this to 6x.
The drive only managed to
give a formatted capacity of 531 MB on RW media, and took 50 minutes to
format it. For audio CD copying, the performance was average. It took about
22 minutes for copying our audio CD.
