Imagine trying to churn out reports from multiple business apps like ERP,
CRM, SCM, DRM, and SRM, and then analyze them for KPIs (key performance
indicators), so as to allow for timely business decisions. And if you have to do
it for data coming from 2 factories, 8 regional offices, 39 branch offices, and
over 70 area offices across India, then you can imagine just how big a task this
really is. Managing data from so many different business applications involves
pulling out reports from huge and highly complex data structures.
So in March last year, LG finally decided to roll out a BI solution that would
achieve seamless integration across all the data sources. They zeroed in on a BI
solution called Kautilya, and decided to start by deploying it for the sales &
marketing, and SCM functions. After 4 months of efforts, the project was finally
implemented. The results, as can be imagined were very positive. Being
web-based, the solution was an instant hit and all the users started using it.
The company managed to reduce the team that was earlier involved in reports
generation. The users saved an hour a day for viewing the reports because they
were so easy to use.
