Adoption of technology across sectors redoubled while more and more companies transformed their organizational strategies and goals to accommodate the new normal. The need for skilling and upskilling reached a new high, with an increasing number of recruiters on the hunt for skilled professionals, in the wake of the Great Shuffle and the employment crisis in India. This was predominant in the IT sector in particular. Due to an increase in digitization, hiring became increasingly cutthroat. MNCs, traditional IT firms, start-ups, and GICs sparred for top tech talent leading to a gap in talent demand and supply.

While organizations are seemingly in a flux as they sway between attracting and retaining talent, the winners are undoubtedly the tech recruits of the country who have a greater say than ever before.  The youth of today, as they say, hold all the cards.

There has been a consistent rise in the demand for IT fresher’s (0-3 years’ experience) in India. Exclusive data from Monster Employment Index cites  showcase a consistent rise in the demand for young tech professionals peaking in the months of May, June, July and August’21 at 46%. While this growth curve slightly dipped in the month of October, it soon picked up again in the lag end of the year.
