In order to contribute and support the business growth, technology &
infrastructure services, Mastek decided to move its infrastructure from
streamline state to optimized one, aiming at increasing productivity, reducing
IT operational cost, etc. The company took reference of Infrastructure
Optimization model of Microsoft. With assistance from Microsoft team, the
project was initiated phase-wise.
In the first phase the Windows 2000 Active directory infrastructure was
migrated to Windows 2003. In the second phase the Exchange 2000 Email
infrastructure had to be migrated to Exchange 2007. It was designed considering
Mastek's DR plan. Next phase was for standardizing the desktop environment
across the organization, with automated deployment.
The same methodology and tools were also extended for patch management for
compliance and reporting. The implementation has been able to give
standardization of operating environment for users, reduced calls to the help
desk, improved security within the corporate network, reduced operational cost,
increased uptime of systems, and improved productivity for end users.
