The MT8135 is based on ARM's big.LITTLE architecture and has four Cortex A7 cores and four Cortex A15 cores, similar to that of Exynos 5.

The company claims that MT 8135 is the world's first true octa-core processor in which all eight cores can work simultaneously, which means applications on the device will make use of all eight cores, instead of four cores being used by its rival chipset.

The MT8135 features a MediaTek-developed four-in-one connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and FM. For graphics power, the MT8135 gets PowerVR series 6 GPU.

MediaTek's entry in the octa-core segment, the next big thing in the smart device market will aid the introduction of octa-core chipset based products at affordable price point.

Brands like Micromax, Xolo, Karbonn and Lava among others can be expected to be the beneficiaries of the latest CPU, who have previously made use of MediaTek's 6589 quad-core chipset.
