Microland, a remote infrastructure management services company realized of

late that training co-ordination was a resource consuming task as the entire

training process was currently being managed by a combination of excels sheets,

databases and emails. These trainings were scheduled based on budgetary

approvals and resource availability. Reporting performance and attendance was

managed by compiling the data in excel sheets. This was subject to manual

errors. Managing training at multiple sites from headquaters was a tedious task.

It was evident that many employees across the organization were not fully aware

of the various training programs being offered by the company. These factors led

to the deployment of a project called Microuniv.

The deployment of Microuniv involved implementation of the standard LMS in

addition to a customized competency matrix and TNI workflow, an approval

workflow that takes into consideration the needs of all the stakeholders. The

needs include the training department, business heads and the employees

integration with Microland's existing portal of e-learning courseware and HRMS,

and customized MIS reports catering to the needs of the training department,

business heads and employees. At a total cost of Rs. 22 lakh, the project was

carried out in association with 24X7 learning and based on the Microsoft .NET

platform. The present implementation has a planned lifecycle of 10 years, and in

the immediate future, there is a plan to integrate the system with the

organization's PeopleSoft system. Ongoing customization as and when the business

requirements arise, are also considered on a need basis.
