The SlimScan ships with a power adapter, a parallel port cable, and an

installation guide. It also has a parallel port for your printer, and

supports Windows. The accompanying CD-ROM contains a mix of scanning,

image editing, OCR, and fax software.

The SlimScan scans at a resolution of 600x1,200 dpi. Its overall image

quality is above average. We scanned a few photographs and it gave us

sharp images. To further test this, we compared it with an old HP ScanJet

and found that the image quality didn’t vary as much as the cost.

However, a CIS scanner is unable to handle 3D objects.

It’s fairly easy to set up. The push button on the scanner launches

the ScanSuite software that gives you a shortcut to all your scanning

needs. ScanWizard, the scanner controller software, allows you to activate

your scanner from any Twain-compatible software. The accompanying OCR

software–OmniPage–makes it easy to scan text documents that you can

edit or save in your word processor.

Priced at Rs 5,750 SlimScan C6 is an affordable scanner for home

and small-office users. It offers a warranty of one year.
